Upon Completion of this Concentration Graduates will be able to:

  • Discuss and implement accepted laws, regulations, accreditation, and other state local rules that govern the healthcare industry, with an emphasis on privacy and security, to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.
  • Implement strategies that support health information management systems analysis and design; selection and acquisition; implementation and management; and systems testing and evaluation.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve core service and support challenges while applying best practices for documentation, change management, and scripting.
  • Install a switch, router, cables and perform basic configuration and host-to-host communications across switches and routers.
  • Describe the concepts of wireless networks, which types of wireless networks can be built, and how to secure wireless devices.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, operating systems, networking and wireless devices.
  • Identify and mitigate security breaches in wired and wireless devices and networking infrastructure.

Career Outlook

The Health IT Systems Support Certificate Program prepares students for entry-level Healthcare IT careers in a variety of healthcare settings including physician offices, clinics, hospitals, and with third-party contractors.  Students also gain the knowledge and skills needed to achieve the national Health Information Technology competencies and will be prepared to take multiple IT certification exams.
